Developing a strategy for the legal services sector

The Legal Services Board is developing a strategy for the legal services sector.

In November 2020, we published the State of Legal Services 2020 report, which gives an in-depth review of the legal services sector following ten years of independent regulation. It is informed by data, evidence and conversations with a wide range of individuals and organisations and research by the LSB and others. This has helped us to build a picture of the most important areas for us all to address, and we are grateful to everyone who contributed.

The report has two volumes, a narrative section and an extensive evidence compendium.

Our report concludes that despite the achievements of the last decade, the legal services market is not working as well for everyone as it should be. The basic legal needs of many citizens are not being met.

We will be seeking your views on both a draft strategy and LSB business plan for 2021-22 through a public consultation at the end of 2020.

The strategy and business plan are due to be published in March 2021.

We would love to hear your views on what are the priorities for legal services. What is working well and what needs to change? Use the form below to share your views or any evidence that you would like us to consider or email
