SRA application to become a Licensing Authority
Status (20 June 2011):
The LSB has now made its decision and has sent a recommendation to the Lord Chancellor.
The Law Society of England and Wales (TLS) is an Approved Regulator and has delegated its regulatory functions to the SRA. Although TLS is formally the applicant, the application refers to the SRA throughout.
25 March 2011 to 25 March 2012
Schedule 10, 13(1) of the Legal Services Act requires that the LSB must give a decision on an application being made to the Board. This can be extended to no more than 16 months (Schd 10, 13(4)).
