On 4 November 2021, our Chair Dr Helen Phillips spoke at the Danish Consumer and Competition Authority’s conference on competition in the legal profession. The event took place in Copenhagen, with Helen joining via Zoom.
Helen was invited to speak about reforms to legal services regulation in England and Wales in a session about competition in the legal profession. This followed the publication of a market study by the Danish Competition Council on competition in the legal profession in January 2021.
In her speech, Helen reflected on the impact of the reforms and explained the LSB’s independent role in overseeing regulation.
She also described the strategy for the sector that we published earlier this year. It outlines the challenges facing the legal services sector in England and Wales and that we need to tackle them in order to address unmet legal need and ensure legal services meet the needs of society.
