BSB gives commitments to LSB to improve performance

Today we have published a set of voluntary undertakings given by the Bar Standards Board (BSB). These are designed to address concerns identified in our most recent Regulatory Performance Assessment and focus on how the BSB will:

  • deliver its Reform Programme for proactive and consumer-focussed regulation
  • redesign its enforcement process for fairness, timeliness and efficiency
  • ensure that its people have ready access to up-to-date policies and processes
  • and improve how it shares information with consumers through its website.

The undertakings have been developed collaboratively and include measurable targets. They reflect a shared commitment to delivering improvements in how the BSB regulates in the public interest so that confidence in the profession is secured and maintained.

We will monitor progress against these undertakings through quarterly reports from the BSB. We expect that the undertakings will be fulfilled by the end of 2027/8.
