Kate Briscoe steps down from the Legal Services Board

The Legal Services Board today (14 October 2025) announced that Kate Briscoe has decided to step down as a lay Board member. The Lord Chancellor has agreed to her request to leave the Board with immediate effect.

Kate has informed us that due to the increasing demands of running Legal Beagles, which she expects to only intensify over the coming months, she finds herself unable to dedicate the time and attention required to fulfil the responsibilities of being a Board member.

Catherine Brown, interim Chair of the Legal Services Board, said:

“On behalf of the Board and Executive team, we thank Kate for her service and contribution to the LSB.

“We have greatly valued her insight into consumer issues, her focus on addressing unmet legal need, and her support in sharpening our focus on improving access to justice — particularly through technology and innovation.

“We wish her every success for the future.”

Recruitment for a new lay Board Member will begin shortly.
