LSB confirms re-appointments to the Legal Services Consumer Panel and the Office for Legal Complaints

Today, the Legal Services Board (LSB) confirmed the re-appointment of David Abbott as a Member of the Legal Services Consumer Panel. The re-appointment will start on 1 April 2022 for three years until 31 March 2025. David’s initial three-year term ran from 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2022.

The LSB has also confirmed the re-appointment of Elisabeth Bellamy as a non-lay member of the Board of the Office for Legal Complaints (OLC). The OLC is the Board of the Legal Ombudsman. The re-appointment will start on 1 March 2022 until 28 February 2023. Elisabeth’s initial four-year term ran from 1 March 2018 to 28 February 2022

The Legal Services Act 2007, which created the LSB, also required the LSB to establish a Consumer Panel to represent the interests of consumers. The LSB appoints members with the approval of the Lord Chancellor.

The Act also created the OLC as a single independent body to handle consumer complaints, subject to oversight by the LSB. The LSB appoints Members of the OLC.
